Students spent today putting the finishing touches on their prototypes and completing the presentation based on the required criteria. Students will be presenting their prototypes TOMORROW!
Students have continued to work towards making their design ideas a reality while constructing their prototypes. Students are quickly figuring out the aspects of their design that are working as intended, as well as those aspects that need to be 're-imagined'.
Students were challenged to design an ankle/foot orthotic that would meet various criteria and constraints based on a patients specific needs, while working within various constraints (such as materials/time/money). Students worked to COMPLETE a Design Brief as a means to summarize the Design Challenge Expectations as it relates to ALL ASPECTS of the requested design. As students finish their Design Briefs, they met with me to ensure their accurate interpretation of the expectations. Then students were set free to begin developing designs and constructing their prototypes using limited materials.
Students were given 20 minutes to design a straw structure that could support a tennis ball above the surface of the table for greater than 15 seconds.
