These groups were challenged to create a vehicle that was capable of traveling over rough terrain and had the ability to change from 2-wheel drive to 4-wheel drive. Below you will find some of the solutions students generated ON THEIR OWN!
Some of the groups also made videos explaining how their solution met the design criteria! Students were tasked with creating a machine that is capable of moving a solar collection disc that......
Students attempts to achieve the design problem are located below and were created ON THEIR OWN!!! A student video describing one of the design solutions is located below! Students were tasked with the challenge of designing a machine that could transport heavy medical eqipment HORIZONTALLY from room to room AND VERTICALLY from floor to floor.
Unfortunately I did not get pictures of all of the student designs (sorry)! Here are some of the design solutions the students developed ON THEIR OWN!!!! There is a student video describing the function of their design below! These groups were challenged to create a machine that could pump water from the ground, grind grain for food and cut wood working to meet these criteria:
Unfortunately I did not get pictures of all of the student designs (sorry)! Here are some the students design solutions that they created ON THEIR OWN!!! Students are wrapping up their designs and a specific post will follow with more detailed images and student videos describing the features of their design......
Students spent time analyzing the expectations for their assigned task for completion. Students MUST satisfy ALL criteria. How they satisfy that criteria is 100% up to them. We spent a day brainstorming design ideas within their design groups and developing a design solution.
Students will reflect upon their design throughout the process. This is how we have been progressing so far this week...... The students practice with various mechanisms will be valuable as they are introduced to our next design project. It is called a survival challenge because the class (as a whole) is responsible for achieving four specific tasks in order for the survival of their 'society'. Each group is given a general objective to achieve with necessary criteria. It is up to EACH OF THE FOUR GROUPS to develop an ORIGINAL design and select various mechanisms to help them achieve the objective using the materials they have at their disposal. The tasks necessary for survival include the design of ......
It was a long process, but the students did great working to try to CREATE the different types of mechanisms using their VEX robotics parts. The method of creating these mechanisms varies, but the objective remains constant. Students were ACTIVELY ENGAGED and CHALLENGED throughout this process.
Students are begining to move outside of the simple gear trains and rotary to rotary transitions and moving into more complex mechanisms. We will continue this through next week. Students are working on identifying the effects various mechanisms have on the relationship between the INPUT of a mechanical system and the OUTPUT as it relates to the....
